Marketing Internship
Summer 2017

The Madison Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is offering an unpaid internship (12 hours/week) in
our Marketing Department. This internship will be valuable to individuals with a strong interest
in marketing and communications and/or the field of arts management. Interns can expect to
leave with new knowledge, writing samples, connections for future networking, and a reference
from a professional work environment. This internship will begin in May or June at a mutually
agreed upon date.

• Assist in writing 17–18 Season news releases for symphony concerts, organ
performances, hymn sings, and other events
• Submit MSO and organ concert information to area online community calendars
• Enter patron email addresses into email marketing system (iContact)
• Update media and church contact lists
• Enter marketing deadlines in Google calendar
• Assist in updating web pages as needed
• Assist in content creation and posting to social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram,
• Learn about publicity and marketing promotions
• Assist with market research and surveys
• Other duties as assigned

• Current college student
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Knowledge of classical music preferred
