Madison Central BID (Business Improvement District) will present a series of events throughout Downtown Madison called Summer in YOUR City. The purpose of the events to support downtown Madison and its businesses by creating welcoming and community focused events that are also free to the public. Part of this summer series is an event that will offer a “commuter music series.” The idea of this event is to showcase various local musicians and give them a chance to play at the Capitol Square.

Summer in YOUR City is a public music event every Monday Morning from 8am – 9am and Tuesdays afternoon 4pm – 5pm to bring music to the Capitol Square and brighten up two commuter times each week. The performances will take place at Rotary Plaza  which is 100 N. Hamilton – Madison Children’s Museum. If you are familiar with the location there is a small “stage” right next to MCM which is where the performances will take place.

The performances are free to the public and completely unplugged. I am reaching out to private music instruction schools to see if this is something you can share with students or even your instructors. We are looking for the following types of performers who can perform without any type of amplification or “electrical support.” The space is small so ideally we have 1-3 performers total.

Vocalists (all musical styles: show tunes, opera, 2 -3 person small group)
Strings (cello, violin, viola, fiddle, harps, guitar, banjo, etc)
Instrumental (woodwinds, brass, bagpipes, single or small set drumming-including traditional, modern, native/ethnic, accordion, etc)

We are offering a $50 stipend for the one hour performance; additionally, if you would like to have a donation/tip bucket out you are certainly welcome.

We are just beginning the bookings so ALL

Monday mornings June 6th – September 26th are open AND
Tuesday afternoons June 7th – September 27th are also available.

If any of these dates are available for you, and you would like to perform, please let me know. Also, if you are interested in doing repeat performances we would certainly love/welcome that also.
