Position: Director of Orchestras
Date of Appointment: August 22, 2012
Rank and Salary: Academic Staff (50% or more) with permanent load dependent upon the qualifications of the successful candidate and the needs of the Department. Salary is competitive and negotiable.
Qualifications: Earned master’s degree. Tenure-track appointment considered for candidates with earned doctorate or ABD, and qualifications that meet other department needs. Orchestral conductor with a strong commitment to undergraduate music education; record of successful teaching at the undergraduate level; proven record of success in orchestral conducting, and demonstration of effective conducting technique; strong commitment to recruiting for a growing orchestra program. We actively seek candidates who possess the interest and ability to work with students from diverse socio-economic, educational, and ethnic backgrounds.
Duties: Provide artistic leadership in orchestral music at UW-Whitewater; direct Whitewater Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra (50%) with additional duties possible according to the qualifications of the successful candidate and the needs of the Department. These might include additional music coursework or potentially non-music work connected with multicultural or multimedia topics.

Department of Music: The Department of Music, with over 150 music majors, 75 music minors, and 30 full or part time faculty, is a division of the College of Arts and Communication, and is a fully accredited member of NASM. The Department offers Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Music degrees with emphases in Music Education, Performance, and History/Theory, as well as a Music Minor and Music Certificates.
