The Department of Music is seeking a professor of flute appointed at the level of assistant or associate professor, tenured or tenure-track person. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate studio flute and provide leadership in all aspects of the woodwind program. The candidate will maintain an active professional career as an artist and teacher. The candidate will teach in areas of expertise such as; studio flute, woodwind ensemble, literature, pedagogy, chamber music, multiple woodwind studies, early music, and other music courses as needed. The candidate will serve as Woodwind Area Coordinator and is expected to actively recruit for the department at the undergraduate and graduate levels, advise flute majors, supervise master’s-level research, work collaboratively with all faculty in recruitment of new students, be active in research/creative activity and service for the department and university, and participate in a full range of faculty governance activities within the University and Department of Music.
1. Teach undergraduate and graduate studio flute, literature, and pedagogy. 2. Oversee student woodwind and mixed chamber ensemble experiences. 3. Participate in advising undergraduate and graduate woodwind students. 4. Engage in creative and scholarly activity as appropriate to a university faculty member. 5. Engage in professional development activities. 6. Engage in recruiting and retention initiatives and activities. 7. Participate in faculty meetings, University and Department of Music committees, and service as appropriate.
