Northland College is currently conducting a tenure-track search for a faculty position in Music that will begin in August 2012. Located in Ashland, Wisconsin, on the shore of Lake Superior, Northland College has pursued an environmental liberal arts mission since 1971, and recently revised its general education curriculum to emphasize integrated learning across disciplines.
Duties of the successful candidate will include conducting Northland Singers, the Northland College Chamber Choir, and the Lumberjack Chorus (college/community men’s chorus), as well as teaching studio voice and piano. In addition, the individual will be responsible for contributing courses to the College’s unique general education Connections program and its Humanities major.
By the time of appointment, candidates must possess a DMA, or Ph.D., and demonstrate skill and effectiveness as a vocal and choral educator and conductor. Candidates should posses the interpersonal skills required to maintain and further develop the College’s strong choral ensembles. Experience with interdisciplinary, team-taught, or integrated teaching, and a documented ability to work in cooperation with fellow faculty, staff, and administrators in a number of contexts are also desired.
