Many musicians both on campus and in the Madison community are not aware of the incredible resources of the Continuing Studies in Music  program.  There are over 50 different course offerings in music ranging from beginning ukulele to Renaissance music theory. Some are for peformers (instrument and ensemble instruction from beginning to advanced), some for scholars (Bach cantatas, anyone?), and some are for just about anyone who’s wondered how to tune a piano or learn better posture.  Some are offered online, and there are even courses in Spanish!

Of particular interest to recent alumni: “Creating a Promotion Plan for your Arts Group,” a workshop taught through the marketing department.

And the best part of all… ANYONE can register for these courses!  Current students (both grads and undergrads), alumni, special students, and auditors.  These courses are FREE for WI auditors over the age of 60 (let’s hear it for the Wisconsin Idea!), and the Continuing Studies department offers career resources for non-traditional learners.

Check out the list of winter 2012 classes or email music@dcs.wisc.edu for specific information.
