Job Hunting Motivation: How Friends and Family can Help

Tuesday, May 24, 2011 from 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM (CT)

It’s easy for a job hunter to become discouraged and feel isolated and alone. When our personal identity and security is closely tied to our work identity, it can be profoundly disruptive to be unemployed. Friends and family can help.

This webinar will give a framework for how friends and family can be a supportive part of a job hunter’s life. Instead of awkward “so how’s the job hunt going?” conversations, you’ll be able to have more substantive interactions that will leave everyone making a positive, fun difference in the ongoing job hunt. This free tele-class, led by Stever Robbins and Michael Neece, co-founders of JobTacToe.com, will give you a step-by-step process for building a support network for an ongoing job seeker.

You’ll learn:

  • What kind of support friends and family can provide—and which kinds they can’t.
  • How to have conversations in which you ask for or offer help and support.
  • Techniques for being a motivating source for job hunting friends, without it becoming too big a burden on you.
  • How to reconnect with your support network if you’re the one going through an extended job hunt.
