School of Madison Ballet accompanists

Title: Accompanist
Reports To: School of Madison Ballet (SMB) Director
Schedule: 2 – 10 hours per week
Wage Range: $18 – $21 per hour

Position Summary
Madison Ballet (MB) has immediate openings for accompanists with the School of Madison Ballet (SMB). SMB is proud to offer live accompaniment in all levels of classes, from Children’s Division to adult open classes. As an accompanist, you will utilize your skills and work collaboratively in a professional atmosphere. School of Madison Ballet is the official training institute of Madison Ballet, resident company of Overture Center for the Arts.

Experience playing for ballet classes is not necessary. We are willing to train good pianists to develop the ability to modify written music to create phrases for ballet exercises. Any style of music (classical, jazz, or contemporary) is appropriate as long as the pianist can provide a range of tempos and at least one piece in each of the basic time signatures: 4/4, 2/4, 3/4, and 6/8. More complex time signatures are welcome for advanced level classes.

Qualifications
● Trained in piano with a minimum of 5 years experience
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Ability to work closely with SMB faculty to select appropriate music
● Ability to both maintain and adjust tempo as requested by faculty
● Ability to improvise is appreciated, but not required

Compensation and Benefits

Currently seeking a Ukulele instructor

We are a group of 3, fun, and artsy women from Madison Preschool of the Arts, with 2 years of lesson experience. We are seeking a Ukulele instructor to work with us on Tuesday evenings in order to continue our knowledge of music theory, finger style, and advancing our skill set.

Trumpet for an in-person Sunday worship service

Westminster Presbyterian Church at 4100 Nakoma Road in Madison is seeking to collaborate with a trumpet for an in-person Sunday worship service at 9:45 am on October 31, 2021. The musician will play descants on several hymns and offer trumpet/organ literature chosen in consultation with the organist. One rehearsal with the organist (set at a mutually agreeable time) and one worship service included in the fee for this paid gig.. Westminster is observing social distancing and full masking of both congregation and worship leaders. As currently required, trumpet bell must be covered during the worship service.

Violinist for an in-person Sunday worship service

Seeking Bass Section Leader

The Bethel Choir, a 30-voice SATB ensemble, seeks to hire a bass section leader. Weekly rehearsals on Thursdays from 7-8:30pm, and weekly calls on Sunday morning at 8:00 for the 9:00 service (done by 10:15). Pay is $50 per call. Seasonal choir director

Lodi United Methodist Church is hiring a seasonal choir director. The choir director may come to us once a week (Saturday early afternoon or Wednesday evening) for five weeks or more, starting in early or mid November and teach children and youth, in two different small choirs, to sing. The two choirs will come on the stage for a concert on Sunday, December 19. This will make the director get paid $700+ for the practices and performance. We are located 25 minutes north of Madison by car. This person is an integral member of a small development team, led by the Director of Development, that raises $1.7 million of the MSO’s $5 million budget. This full-time position manages all aspects of the proposal writing and reporting process for foundation, government, and corporate funders, and plays a key role in developing and implementing donor cultivation and stewardship activities for approximately 80 institutional funders.

Looking for instrumentalists to play at Masses

St Paul’s Church in Evansville located at 39 Garfield Avenue Evansville, WI and St Augustine in Footville (280 Haberdale Dr Footville, WI) are looking for instrumentalists to play at their Masses. Mass is usually celebrated 5 pm on Saturday and 10:30 am on Sundays at St Paul’s and 8:30 AM at St Augustine’s. Ideally, we are looking for someone to play the piano/organ and if they sing that will be a great addition. Warmups will be before Mass, but no other rehearsals are expected. Children’s Choir Director wanted

Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison, WI is looking to hire a part time Children’s Choir Director. The position would be 2 Sundays a month for approximately 3 hours each Sunday. This position starts September 12th and runs through the end of May with the possibility of continuing next fall. The position is paid.
