Wanted: Soprano section leader for parish choir

Wanted: Soprano Section leader for parish choir

St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 602 Everglade Dr. in Madison is looking for a soprano section leader for our parish choir.

The Parish Choir is primarily composed of volunteers who sing at one Mass each Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. from September – May, in addition to special celebrations that happen throughout the year, including Christmas Eve & Day, Holy Week, and Easter. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

We sing a variety of music at our celebrations. While our music program tends to lean toward contemporary, we are working to build and diversity our parish and choral repertoire to include more hymnody, world music, sacred music, and choral compositions.

This position would ideally include attendance at weekly rehearsal as well as attendance at the 10:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday mornings. There is flexibility in scheduling. This is a paid position. For more information about St. Thomas Aquinas, visit us: www.stamadison.org. Contact Greg Buchberger, Director of Music Ministries at greg@stamadison.org.

Musician(s) for School of Education reception – July 22

I am seeking a musician or musicians to perform at a reception hosted by the School of Education for approximately 60 people that will be held at the Education Building on the UW-Madison campus. The event will consist of 25 Young African Leaders who are studying on campus through a fellowship program. Members of the community will also be invited to network with these Fellows. Ideally, we would appreciate instrumental music played throughout the event, with the exception of during a brief speaking portion by the Dean of the school.

The venue, if the weather cooperates, is the 3rd-floor deck of the Education Building. Our backup location would be the Morgridge Commons in the same building.

The event is scheduled for Monday, July 22 with a tentative run time of 5 to 7:30 p.m. (this will be confirmed soon).

This would be a paid gig based on negotiations.

The private reception will celebrate the centennial of the passage of the 19th Amendment and will take place inside our lobby and on the outside veranda, facing Library Mall. I would prefer a classical genre of music (strings), though I am open to other ideas.

My wife and I are looking for either an individual or a small group of individuals to play a stringed instrument (guitar, viola, violin, bass) OR piano for a wedding ceremony and possibly at the cocktail hour for the reception on September 6th, 2019 around the time of 3pm to 4:30pm, and possibly up to 630pm.  The location is at Lake Windsor Country Club (about 15 minutes from downtown Madison).  If you have a voice to go along with an instrument, even better!  Musicians would be playing contemporary/and or classic music at the reception during cocktail hour if needed. Compensation of $150 for the wedding ceremony for a group of two or more or $100 for an individual, OR $350 for a group of two or more or $200 for an individual if they can play at the reception as well – We will obviously provide compensation for travel expenses. Solo cellist or violinist wanted, October wedding

I am interested in hiring a solo cellist or violinist for our private wedding on Saturday, 10/26/19. It will take place at the Lagaret in Stoughton, WI (30 minute drive from campus). The wedding ceremony will be from 4:00-4:30pm but we would like music before and after the ceremony so a commitment from 3:30-5pm would be perfect. Please contact me if interested. I am, of course, happy to pay for your talents. $200 seems reasonable to me but am flexible with negotiation (new to hiring musicians).
Thanks for your consideration!

Marcia Legere Student Play Festival intern/producer

The Wisconsin Union Theater is in search of a new Marcia Legere Student Play Festival intern/producer for next year. Applications/cover letters are due next week Friday at noon.

The Marcia Legere Student Play Festival engages students in writing, producing, directing, designing, and performing original theatrical works for the stage. The annual festival solicits short play contributions from UW-Madison students during the fall semester and the plays are produced and performed in the Play Circle at Memorial Union in the spring. The student producer provides the creative and organizational energy for the festival, advised by members of the Wisconsin Union Theater staff and guided by UW-Madison faculty and alumni. And the best part is, experience in producing isn’t required!

The paid student intern/producer will also support programs meant to engage students at UW-Madison in writing plays and working with professional playwrights.
The Marcia Légère Student Play Festival is a program of the Wisconsin Union Directorate Performing Arts Committee.
Interested in applying? Submit a current resume and cover letter, detailing your interest and qualifications in the job, to Sandy Peterson at skpeterson4@wisc.edu by Friday, May 17 at 12:00 pm.
